Bought the 1st 4 in the pictures just over 3 weeks ago. Supposed to be Americauna, White Rock, Buff Orp, Leghorn. Next 2 the next week, RIR and BR, AND the last 2, both Bantams, 2 days later. Silkie and cochin frizzle who is not frizzling...LOL

#1 Cricket...Boy or girl?

#2 Babs...Boy or girl?

#3 Bugs...Boy or girl...White Rock or Leghorn?

#4 Boots...names because of his bigger and darker feet...Now the Biggest! Roo? White Rock or Leghorn?

#5 LuLu...Boy or girl...RIR, right?

#6 Mumford...Girl right?? My son had to name her after the new Mumford and sons band. BaHaHa!

#7 Nutmeg...Boy or girl? Too early to tell? Aghh! I hate the suspense!

I really want to know how many roos I have so I can get MORE CHICKENS!!!! LOL!!! The feed store has a HUGE shipment coming in tomorrow had some in today and the day before!

There's no such thing as an "Americauna"

They are EasterEggers, mutt birds with a blue egglaying ancestor. Sold by hatcheries/feedstores as "Americanas"/Araucanas/Ameraucanas. They are not purebreds.Typically good tempered, good layers.

I'm not good with chicks this young, but I'll give it a go.

1) Girl
2) Boy
3) Not sure. Need a better pick of the face/comb, but I would TENTATIVELY guess girl.
4) Boy. You won't know for sure whether these two are rocks or leghorns until they are of sexual maturity. If their combs are BIG, they are leghorns. If they are small, they are rocks.
5) Can't tell.
6) Girl.
7) Can't tell. Silkies/mixes are HARD to sex.
8) Not sure... need better pic of the face.

Ya'll know that it is nearly impossible to determine the sex of a chick at this age. Unless you are looking at some bright pink comb, you won't know for sure until they lay an egg or crow
