Well my girls are spending their first night out in the coop. They've been in our laundry room for two weeks now. I'm a nervous wreck, we shall see if they make it through the night w/out a predator. I'm most worried about a chicken snake getting one of the smaller wyandottes.

Please say a little prayer for my dozen chicks tonight here in Texas.

Hi Dave,

What kind of chickens do you have and how old are they? It's good to make your coop as predator-proof as possible - hardware cloth is great at sealing holes where snakes can enter.

@FridayYet we have a dozen chicks that are 4-5 weeks old now.
2 of each. Australorp,Golden Laced Wyandotte, Americauna, Buff O, Golden Comet, Barred Rock

Pleased to announce, they all made it through the night! Apparently I'm a better builder than I thought. I tossed and turned all night, worried they were going to be eaten.

THEY MADE IT!
