My collection of straight run brown egg layers hit 10 weeks old on Wednesday.....yesterday I hear a strangled sound....then again alittle louder and longer...sounds like a.....peak around the corner and standing on the cage one of the reds starts bowing up and crows the best he can....
Had to laugh....

They always sound so weird when they first start crowing, don't they?

And today one of the CX meat birds started....haven't heard him crow since we put him in the cooler on ice.....
We are out in the middle of nowhere, and have no restrictions outside of a nuke plant....
Will keep a few Roos for breeding...others take the ice train...
