1yr old Chickens didn’t lay today

Hey everyone! I have a strange situation going on. It’s 8PM, I just got a chance to go collect eggs but there are NONE! I looked all through the nesting boxes, coop, run, and can’t find a single one. I have been getting 5-7 eggs a day for a long time now. Any ideas on what happened?

As the days get shorter, they will stop laying. This is all normal

How many birds do you have?
Do you free range?
Shorter days will affect older layers(18 months give or take a couple-few months),
but unusual for all to stop laying at the same time.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

They are 14 months old, I have 10 hens but only 8 of them are laying (the other 2 are Silkies and only 5 months). I don’t free range them, I only let them out when I can watch them because of wild animals. I’m in the U.S. in Georgia. I think it’s supposed to be the first day of fall but the days are still pretty long and hot. So I’m not sure that weather is a factor?

The length of days is what matters, not the weather.
We just passed the equinox, some of my birds stopped laying a few weeks ago.
Some are still laying, each bird reacts differently to the shorter days.
Some may slow down laying, some may just stop.
Some are now actively shedding feathers to molt.
Cessation of lay and molting happens at approximately same time of year,
but that can be mostly coincidental.
But expect an egg drought...'tis the season!

Today I was looking around the run and noticed a lot of feathers, it looked like someone got in a fight lol. I think they are molting and had an off day, they were back on track today.

Rare for a bird that is molting to lay.
So some of your bird may be out of lay, some may have slowed down, so not unusual to have a day without eggs.
