2 broody hens?

i now have two hens that have decided to go broody but i only have two nest boxes for 4 hens. today i only got one egg, which is unusual. should i kick them off their eggs to give the others a chance? will they just come back?

They'll just come back, but it might give one of your other girls a chance to sneak in there and lay an egg. I do take my broodies off once or twice a day (if I'm around) to have them run around drink water and eat a little. They usually come out in the morning as well when I open the coop door. Maybe that is when one of your other's could sneak in to lay. When they are broody, they don't lay, so if you get 1 egg from the other two hens, that doesn't sound that unusual. Mine, when they aren't being broody, lay 2 out of the 3 days. good luck

Do you have silkies? If so, you might want to get an extra box, because I hear that all they do is go broody.
