Hey there! Looking to raise 2 chickens in my urban backyard in San Francisco. I would like two different breeds that will get along together well. I am looking for good egg layers, friendly birds - and if they were cute or funky looking that would be a plus, but it's not necessary. Any advice on which two breeds I should start with as a beginner? Also, my backyard won't get very cold, but often shaded, if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help! Jacy
Well first off i think you should get 3 incase one dies the other will be left alone. Light sussex are nice and lay well but might go broody, same with Orpingtons. You can go wrong with Goldlines, but they are abit plain.
