2 days old and pecking eyes

I picked up some chicks from the feed store today. 3 BR, 3red sex link and 4 buffs.

There are a couple that keep pecking at the others' eyes. We have a red bulb on them. Should I change it to white? Should I separate them?

I've noticed most all the chicks we have had do that. They peck at anything out of the ordinary that they think might be food, including other chicks. I wouldn't worry about it, unless they draw blood. We haven't lost any eyes in the last 100 or so chicks.

The red bulbs are a great idea. Might not hurt to toss a few marbles or other safe shiny things in the brooder too so they have other "toys" to peck at.

It's probably just baby curiosity...
