Mine is new to laying also. In fact, she is the only one that is old enough to lay. She laid two eggs in one day, but one of hers was a soft shell. Everyone told me that was normal to be expected in a young hen. They also said to watch her and if it continued to give her some oyster shell or egg shell

That is possible. The record for laying eggs is 371 eggs in 365 days. So more than one day she had to have laid 2 eggs a day. it was a leghorn i think.

Fairly certain it was an Australorp ... 361 in 365. Amazing.

*In 1979, a Leghorn hen laid 371 eggs in 365 days – that’s more than one egg per day!

Nope. The is the website http://www.mrsvandyke.com/chicks.htm, and it was also in the Backyard Poultry magazine for this month. The one with the Brahma on the cover.

I have had my girls lay 2 in one day, however they usually skip the next day. I have Leghorns and RIR.
