2 Golden Laced Wyandottes. Sex?

almost 8 weeks old. First 2 pics are the same bird. Last 3 pics pics are the other bird. Thoughts? I'm concerned because both are getting quite red in the waddles and comb areas.

I wouldn't be concerned yet. Wattles (not waddles) don't look horribly big right now. I *think* wyandottes tend to mature early. My first birds were SLW so I do know the struggles.

I agree...the comb is not big yet...although a bit redder. The top bird concerns me more for roo than the second.

Also watch for the patterning on the birds...females will develop a nice lacing while the males will have very blotchy coloring.

If you look at the adult males vs. females you will see where the coloring is headed.

I'm thinking cockerel on the first one and I'm leaning towards pullet on the second.

I think they both look like pullets, I think their combs would be a more reddish color if they were cockerels. But keep an eye out!

I concur with Bantam Fan 4Life - the first looks like a cockerel, the second, like a pullet.

Both are pullets my roo had way bigger comb then that and allot more gold.

The feathers around the vent area are pretty much gone. I have a good feeling Taffy maybe a rooster.
