I introduced 3 new hens (2 golden comets and a white leghorn) to my existing flock (2 mixed breed, black java, and orbington). All about 7 months old, The 2 mixed hens won't leave the newbies alone. They stay mostly in a large coop. Even when they are outside they still chase them around. I know they need to establish a pecking order, but how long will this aggression last?

I always like to put the new chickens in a small cage inside the main cage for 3-4 days so they get to know each other that way before I release them. A slow introduction seems to work better. Good luck!

thanks for the tips, I have a smaller, somewhat portable coop I can set up adjacent to the main coop. I just didn't want to keep the new ones in such cramped quarters for too long!
