I have a small flock of birds... 5 Black Coppers (2 Roos), 2 Blue Coppers, 1 Blue Wheaten and a Blue Wheaten Americauna. They are all just over 2 months old. I had two more until I had a hawk attack about a month ago when 3 of my birds were outside. 1 was taken, while another was half eaten in front of the third (who appeared to have survived unscathed.)

I found the one that survived huddled next to the half eaten bird and she appeared to have some sort of PTSD. She let me pick her up with no issue or complaint and didn't move for some time.

A month later, she is healthy and appears to be fine except that she cannot peck at food on the ground. She misses by like a quarter of an inch... always pecking a bit too close to herself. She can eat out of the food container fine because it doesn't matter if she misses a small amount, but I like to feed my chicks raisins and meal worms as treats for training. She unfortunately never gets any because she always misses and then finally gives up on the treats.

I just feel bad for her. Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? Does she need little chicken glasses?

It sounds like she has vision trouble. Have you tried giving her bigger pieces of treats? Perhaps a nice big hunk of corn bread to peck at, or if you want to give her something a little healthier, a tomato, watermelon, cabbage, whatever is big enough so she won't miss.

Oh! By the way, Welcome to BYC!!!!!!!
