2 week old chick eyes healing shut

Ok I hadn't noticed anything wrong with the little guy until literally tonight I saw his eye was glued shut so I tried rinsing it with some water to loosen the goo but nothing came off and I realized it wasnt just crusty, it was healing shut and theres only a tiny opening now. I could only find one thread and it did have a few useful videos but I couldn't figure out whether it need to cut it open. Any suggestions?

Please post some photos of the chick and it's eyes.

Does the chick have symptoms of respiratory illness - coughing, sneezing, mucous from the nostrils?
How old?

I would not cut anything open.

Get some warm compresses and work on getting one eye loosened up and open. If you need to, apply a warm compress, then apply a very thin layer of plain neosporin, wait a little bit, then work on it some more.
