2 week old chick has a hard swolen bottom

    This poor baby. First it was the peeping, he's tiny, not growing, not eating, his crop was empty... Now he's eating good, still tiny, but his little bottom below his vent is a round solid mass. I can't find anything online. He's not pasty butted. Help!!

    Can you post a picture?
    It may be some kind of genetic defect, like maybe a tumor or some other kind of growth, which may or may not be a problem. I've never had a chick with anything like that, so I'm not really sure what you've got going on.

    It's so hard to tell. I can get him to get a little poop out of I gently squeeze. It's hard to see in the pic but his little butt is a hard knot right where the blonde fuzz is.

    I think I can see a bump there, unless that's his vent protruding. If its having trouble pooping, it may be some kind of obstruction. Maybe he's eating small bits of shavings (if you use them)? You might switch to paper towels for a little while and continue gently helping him go to the bathroom and see if it clears up...
