I got a suprise today when I let my 2 week old turkeys out to play! One of my little poults started strutting around the welsummer chicks they just met for the first time. Please excuse the strung feed and dirty water bowl in the pictures (I just gave them clean water and fresh feed. Kids... am I right?). Anyways does the strutting at this age mean that it's a Tom? Never had one strut anywhere near this early! We don't even have any Male turkeys around so I didn't expect them to start this early!

At that age, it is a dominance thing. It may or may not be a male. Other members have had female poults strut at that age.

I do not see any strutting in the attached photos.

turkey poults are absolutely adorable but still probably a bit early to determine gender. it will be interesting to see if your early strutters do end up being Toms!!! please keep us updated!

I have three Broad Breasted Bronze. Two Tom's and one hen. When they were young they all strutted. I thought it was funny. Now just my pretty boys do it. (Old Man Tom, and Clyde) My hen (Lurkey) seems to not care though. Lol

It is funny to see them so young thinking they are the boss already.
Here is one pic of one of my Bronze at 4 months in all his glory. It's so hard to get good pictures of him strutting.
