Chicken novice here. From a local farm we bought what we thought were 6 crested cream legbar chicks. Well 3 turned out to be some sort of cross breed cockerels. We brought those back and now have three 21 week olds that are definitely crested cream leg bars. Suffice it to say we are suspicious of our farmer's ability to identify and sex chicks. Two of our leg bars have pretty large wattles and crowns. Are these cockerels?? We have not heard any crowing, at least... Thanks![IMG]

Bottom one at least is a pullet. Top photo is difficult to see...

Top photo looks like another pullet although a better photo could help us know for sure.

At 21 weeks old, they are very close to laying, and are supposed to have bright red combs and wattles. Both are female.

Both pullets... but first one is definitely not a pure Legbar... color is off and her legs are dark...

    Both pullets.

I agree with Ravyn, that first bird is a mix. Dark legs aren't a Legbar thing, the coloring is off and the earlobes are tiny. The second bird looks like a CCL is supposed to.

They are both Legbar cross pullets I'd say. The color is off on both of them.
