Our 24 week Silver Laced Wyandotte has us a bit stumped. We thought she started laying a couple of weeks ago but then we realized it may not have been her. Since keeping a closer eye on who’s laying and who’s not the Silver Laced doesn’t appear to be leaving us an egg. Her comb and waddles have recently grown and gotten very bright, even more than some of the others who we have confirmed are laying. Is it possible we have a rooster? We haven’t heard any crowing though either. Thanks.

No, I do not believe you have a rooster. By this time it would be trying to crow, and would have long, fancy tail feathers. I have 30 week old golden wyandottes (and a Bielefelder and an Easter Egger) none of whom are laying. Some birds just take longer. I don't know where you live and how long your day length is where you are. I also have two mature Wyandottes and only one is still laying at this season. Here in Missoula, Montana, the daylight hours are already less than 12 hours, and most breeds need 12 to 14 hours of daylight to stimulate egg-laying. Sigh.
