What sex is my Delaware? I'm thinking pullet but I'm not quite sure
It's got quite a rooish personality.

Also, should it's tail feathers be black? I've always seen Delawares with black tail feathers. [IMG]

I know nothing about Delawares but it sure looks like a hen to me. I've had a few hens with the personality of a roo -- one was so mean we processed her with the extra roos just to be rid of her. I don't see any pointy feathers and the legs look on the thin side from what I can see. This will give you a bump, anyway.

    Looks like a pullet! [IMG]

I don't know much about Delawares either, but could she be a cross? Maybe it's just the camera, but her legs look green instead of yellow? And she has a white tail... [IMG]

She should turn out to be a layer not a lover [IMG] and you are right she should have a solid black tail w/out barring. Perhaps after her first molt it will change. Where did you get her from??

Yay! More eggs for me! When she starts laying of course... [IMG]
I got her from MyPetChicken and the camera does seem to make her legs look green. Odd...

I got 2 Delawares from MPC in July, and one of them (Lucy) has greenish legs. They aren't as green as my EE, but they aren't as orange/yellow as the other Delaware. Mine both have black tails, but they are hatchery chicks, so none of that is written in stone. Both of them had big legs and feet when compared with the other chicks.

One of my Dels (Angel) is my lap chicken. When I go out to spend time with the girls in the coop or on the patio when they are in the yard (they are 22 weeks now), she hops up on my legs and wants to be scratched and cuddled. They aren't laying yet, but both of them are squatting, so it won't be long. I hope you enjoy your Delaware as much as I do Angel and Lucy.
