My Columbian Plymouth chick (around 3 days old, possibly more?) I just noticed her holding her foot up while eating today and checked it out. She has a dark red spot but seems to be eating, drinking and acting fine otherwise! I tried googling and couldn’t find anything clear so I thought I would try here!!

all other chicks seem to have no foot issues

It looks like a bruise, so it probably is painful. It should heal on it’s own. Just make sure that she is able to get to food and water, or help her. Watch for others so they don’t pick on her.

Thank you!!
I got a similar response on the BYC Facebook group so I’m going to give her some Epsom soaks!
