He is no longer in the incubator. I have him in a spare aquarium with tissue as the bedding temporarily. Do these look burnt, and it's way too early to start molding?

The chick does not look abnormal in anyway. Why do you think it got burnt? The down looks fine to me. Maybe a bit short through the back, but that's actually pretty normal for chicks that are black. There is a gene associated with the extended black gene that can inhibit down development.
And I've had chicks hatch with primaries already coming in.

Okokok, I'll take your responses to heart, thank you guys, just the first time I raised from egg. He's my one Ayam Cemani who hatched, his name WAS going to be Hitchcock, but instead is Gilmore, because since he came out, he has been the most energetic and HAPPYA heartbeat in our home!

and if he turns out to be a she, then it's Maria.

Yea trust me I tackled that forum a bit ago haha.. well thread...

Yea that does seem a bit darker in the picture. But in real life, he is just as dark. Mine just gas shiny adult feathers seeming to be coming in.. or "downs" I guess is the term.

I got 6 eggs for 65 shipped from Arizona from a gentleman back in april, none hatched, for various reasons NOT in my control. He offered to send me 6 more for free because of my sob story haha.

He has said they are from his ayam from greenfire. Which are all black, on account of him. Comb and all.

But at the end of the day, I'll be proud to say I did this.[IMG]

I'm just wondering. MAYBE THE GENTLEMAN IN ARIZONA has his coop visited by neighboring roosters at night. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
