3 day old wyandotte personality?

My chicks finally arrived! 5 ladies of different breeds plus a packing peanut. They went right into the brooder till I got off work. Now my gold laced wyandotte chick is acting almost like a rooster guarding the door and chasing any hands to nip at that come through said door (converted dog kennel). Is this just breed characteristic to be protective? We're a tad concerned it is so aggressive for a 3 day old chick!

Don't let him(?!) peck you! "Peck' him back, just hard enough to be noticed, to discourage this behavior. It won't be cute later!

Oh it got a flick in return, I hope it learns sooner then later. My husband is convinced we got a cockerel by accident but only time will tell. For now I think it will be my pocket pet till it chills out.

At 3 days old it is neither a male or female behaviour. It is normal but not something to tolerate long term.

I have had females that were "bossy" as chicks but are super mellow adults.

Thankyou guys! I spent a lot of time with her yesterday. Once an hour in there handling her and now she just runs up to be loved with no fear or pecking. She discovered my shirt sleeve is a good hang out spot too lol.
