Went out to lock up the coop, looked in, and lo and behold, there was an egg in the nest right beside the white wooden one. Also, there's no need to send my rooster any Viagra now. I saw him do it today with a black hen. I guess the three hens are finally becoming mature and are going to start laying FERTILE eggs now, what with his not being impotent and/or gay like we suspected. Today he saved himself from having to become chicken and dumplings.

The white ones are wooden ones. It was dark out, and I couldn't see to set the camera. I just pointed and shot. The real egg is the brown one on the left. It rolled back to the back where the door lets down to collect eggs.

I am several days ahead of you. My girl has been laying since Monday. I could trade you two two thousand dollar bantam eggs. [IMG]

    Thanks, Redoak.

Quote:I'm not sure that I want to sell it for 4K. I might start incubating again. Yeah, that's being seriously considered to recoup my investment. Let's see... three hens = thee eggs every 30 hours. 168 hours in a week... so that's 3 x about 6 or 18 eggs per week. 18 x 52 weeks = 936 eggs year or 468 hens and 468 roosters. Plus after the first eight months there'll be more hens laying more eggs. Heck, within three years, from these three hens I have the beginnings of putting Egglands Best out of business. And mine will be REAL free range because I'm not EVER going to build another coop.
