We bought a flock of 20 day old chicks on Sunday. 10 Austrolorps and 10 light bramas.

Tonight we found 2 Light brahmas that were looking trampled by the others. We picked them and it looks like there is something covering their eyes so their eyes cannot open. I took a warm, wet, qtip to one of the eyes and it looks like puss.

I separated these 2 from the rest of the flock.

My husband observed a bit of pecking from the darker chicks to the lighter ones. They are sleeping now but I plan to observe tomorrow.

What do I do now?

I would clean their eyes with normal saline, and you can apply Vetericyn eye gel, Terramycin eye ointment from the feed store, or plain Neosporin/Triple Antibiotic ointment twice daily.

It would also be a good idea to run some L-S 50 (Lincomycin-Spectinomycin) soluble powder in water for 5-7 days at 1 tsp per gallon of drinking water. Stressed chicks become susceptible to respiratory disease. After that run Probios dispersible powder at 1 tsp per gallon for 1 day, and poultry vitamins like Sav-A-Chick for 2 days.
