This is Larvakite. She/He is a 4 month old Silkie. I know it’s early to tell gender and I usually DNA test but I have so many young ones right now so I decided I’m going to play the waiting game. I just thought I’d see what y’all’s opinions are.
Also the other silkie pictured is Onyx a DNA tested pullet but she is younger and not related so I can’t go based off of size & frame comparison.

Pippin's easy guide to silkie sexing

Hello there! When I hatched my own silkies, I studied and studied about how to sex them. I read that it was almost impossible to sex them, and that you had to wait for a crow or an egg. Raising and watching them helped me pick out certain traits that only belong to roosters or hens. These...

Oh awesome! Thank you for the article! 😁

Does the sexing guide go for showgirls too? I did read it & I’m leaning towards Roo for this 12 week old showgirl but honestly I have no idea.

no streamers, clean comb im leaning pullet. out of my 5 silkies that i got mar 25 22 i got only 1 i aint sure of yet lol. they sound so different now. and mine seem giant and dont like handling even though they are handled daily to check the bands on their legs i use to identify them. and always held them when they were in the brooder. these little blighters are not what i excepted of silkies. i aint exactly happy with mine. and the female is super un happy to be handled.
