I've got three birchen Marans chicks who just turned 4 weeks old on Wednesday. I've seen a lot of pictures of Marans where the cockerels developed big red combs really early (like 2-3 weeks) and were very easy to tell apart from the pullets. My three look pretty much the same to me so I was hoping for some outside opinions :)

Give them a couple of more weeks to see if those combs turn pink.

Still a bit early to know for sure. :) But, I will say, my Marans pullets' combs are usually a similar size at the same age. What you need to gauge is the level of redness, which is of even more importance.

my marans only really developed "big" red combs this past week at 9 weeks so I would give it a while longer!

You might also watch and see who butts heads a lot. My boys started doing this around 4 weeks a lot more than the girls. They seem to like to have staring contests and jump on each other to establish dominance while the girls prefer to hang back most of the time.

A little early, but I'd put bets on no. 3 being a pullet. The other two are hard to tell. A couple of weeks will answer the question.
