5 gallon bucket nipple drinker

I use a five gallon galvanized drinker. I have placed a drop cord 60 watt bulb under a 3 dollar metal oil pan. I place the drinker on that. It stays good to about -10.

saw that, I'm going to tray it, for my outside runs, I really don't know about winter, here I don't think i will work, the water will have to be real warm to keep the nipple unfroze, i get 0 or lower often

You can put a bird bath heater or an aquarium heater in the bucket to keep it liquid in sub-zero temps. I've done this all winter and it has worked great. You could also attach a thermo cube so that the water doesn't get as warm as the heaters will make thme if left to their own operation.

I use them and love them. They keep everything so much cleaner and less waste. I didn't use them this winter tho. Just used heated dog bowls. With the way mine are made I couldn't figure out a way to keep them from freezing. Will have to work on that this year. Also, you can get the same exact ones a lot cheaper at qcsupply.com and they have way cheaper shipping and handling charges.

Yup, use it, and love mine! I use the 5 gallon bucket with 3 nipples on the bottom. A deicer safe for 5 to 25 gallons and a thermocube-this thing rocks!! I've never had to do a thing to it, except refill it. Even when the temps hit zero, the girls just had to peck it to get it started and it was perfectly fine. Kind of like throwing warm water on a frozen car door, same principle. I'll be making a couple more for the summer, it will be very easy to just dump ice and acv in.

Do you have any pics and prices for your deicing devices? I have my nipples on one gallon jugs and have to use heated dog bowls in the winter and they aren't nearly as clean as the nipple waterers.

I found a video on you tube showing them, do you have to teach your chickens to use this kind of system? and all the videos I have seen show chicks can they be used for laying hens
