Hello, I have been lurking for a couple of months reading and learning. Today I decided to create an account. I have a question - I have some 5 week old Ameraucana's and half of their comb's are turning pink (one is definitely red). Should I assume that these are Cockerels? Or is it silly to assume anything at 5 weeks?

    Thanks.

If pics are needed - I can get some.

Welcome! Pictures will help a lot, but probably red combed birds are cockrels. Mary

    Thank's for the welcome, Folly's Place :)

These two were slow at feathering in, and are showing signs of a red/pink comb. I am assuming that these might be Easter Eggers, but I am not certain.

They are cute! The first bird is definitely a cockrel, and probably the second is too. Green legs go with being EEs, too. Mary
