Some of our Pekin ducklings has some blood were their feathers are coming in. Are they getting hurt by each other, themselves or ? They have a shallow pool to get washed in. ANything else I should do?

They look better today. I didn't notice any blood. They have a very large pen. I refill their pool in the morning and evening, so hopefully everything will go smoothly now.

I have a duck that is about 5 weeks old i am not sure what breed it is but it has one of its wing tips that is bloody aswell. i am so glad i found your thread. I was not sure if it had gotten cought on the fince or if a cat got it or what could have happend to it but i am glad to know that i am not the only one that has that issue. this is day one for my duck and i like that it gets better after day 2.

well that is a good thought too. my 5 week old duck is living in a smaller pin that is out in the open with 3 turkeys that are about a month older then it is. the turkeys are now smaller then the duck but could they have attacked the duck? and if so would they just go after the one wing? we have tryed to seperate them but the duck just wanted to be with the turkeys so we just let them be together

Anything is possible, but I would think if they have been getting along they are probably still ok. I would think it more likely with the pen being out in the open that something may have startled it & it tried to flap & run to get away & broke a few pin feathers on the fence. Just keep an eye on it. If it keeps happening you will know there's a problem.

when i looked at it today there was no blood along its side so i didnt get into it more
i was going to put my 2 week old ducks in that pen so i took them all out so they can walk the yard (the 2 week olds were to small for the 2" wire) so the turkey's and the older duck that i call turkey are walking the yard for the night. i think that we dont have a preditor issue (maybe cats). so far in the week and a half or two that they have been outside we have only had the one issue with the duck (that is bigger then the turkeys). i am almost thinking that it is just the duck messing with its incomming feathers. but we will see
