Ok, here's the deal. I rescued a stray cat today. Took her to the vet and other than being half starved to death (she is 3 or 4 years old and only 4 pounds) she checked out fine.
Her FIV and Felv tests were negative. They are defleaing, deworming, and vaccinating her as we speak.
So we plan to keep her, but there is a catch. She has some bite wounds.
Now the vet said that she felt a spay scar and if she has been spayed, most likely she has also been vaccinated for rabies, but...
Well, I would just take her in and be gentle for a few months (apparently 6 months is the rabies quarantine period) but I have small kids and I can't take the risk of them being rough with her and getting bit or scratched.
So, I need a foster home for 6 months at which point I will take her back and keep her (unless you fall in love with her of course - then we can chat
).
The vet said she would hold her overnight for me at no charge so I need to find an answer ASAP.
