lavander splash Amerucana (has blue legs) about 6 months old, but still not showing any sign of a rooster. Does he look like a rooster or a hen?

It is showing signs of being a rooster. Those pointed feathers hanging down the neck and in front of the tail are male only feathers.

When do they normally start crowing?

Definitely a rooster. Most roosters begin crowing by 8 weeks of age, but it is not uncommon for them to wait longer.

My roosters don't seem to start til around 5-6 months. Some aren't even crowing then, they just don't live long enough for me to find out when they'd start.
