6 Week Chicks, Full Crops!

This isn't an emergency.....yet.... I fed my chicks some cucumber/tomato scraps yesterday afternoon, and now their crops are bulging full. I see that I should be giving them grit, but is it to late? The grit can't get to their gizzard if it can't get past the crop right? I feel terrible : ( Please help! Thanks.

Offer it now, make sure it's chick grit, or sand. Were the "scraps" little cut up pieces or big chunks?

They were chunks of tomato and cucmber. I checked them this morning and some of them were down, but a lot of them still had fairly large buldges. I read on another post that veggie oil in their water, and gentle massage of their crops will help. Is that your experience? I will get chick grit in their pens this morning as soon as the feed store opens! Thanks for the input!
