Hi All!!

We are new to BYC in regards to asking for help since we haven't had much trouble except for this morning. Our daughter was wearing a tiny, tiny plastic beaded bracelet that she made and our little (actually not so little) Peking duck snatched it off her wrist. It happened so fast she wasn't able to get it from him. :( Now we are worried and looking for any help. I read that chickens and ducks eat rocks so I am hoping that he will be ok. The plastic beads were about the size of tomato seed but round. Thank you in advance.

If it's small enough, it will pass through his system, and won't be an issue. chickens DO eat rocks, but they do so on purpose in order to help with digestion. Someone actually posted about 2 weeks ago about a hen swallowing a nail! (she survived!) don't worry too much unless he starts acting out of the ordinary. hopefully it can just run its course. Make sure to post if you notice anything!

Thank you so much for responding!! I really appreciate it. He seems normal but I know it's early so we will keep a close eye on him. I will let my daughter know. She has been texting me in between her classes. :)

no problem! If you are really worried, I would call a vet. Only do this if ABSOLUTELY necessary though, because they can be pricey. it was $100 for our vet to do a diagnosis, plus $200 for x-ray and treatment. Personally, I wouldn't spend that much on a duck, but some people feel strongly about their animals and think the money is worth it.
