I went to southern states today and seen a $70.00 feeder and got an idea for a chicken feeder

that would work and here it is

Parts list:
6" galvanized duct pipe $4
6" galvanized pipe cap $3
metal screws $2
dog feeding pan $3

Directions:
cut "ears" into pipe that span the corrugated and seam (the bent part of the pipe) out roughly 3"
bend up every other cut
bend out every ear
screw pipe to pan, i used 2 screws every ear
fill with food
and cap

Tips:
WEAR GLOVES!!!
mark your ears so the bends are even so your feeder stands up straight

I do believe this thing is sufficient enough, what are your thoughts?

@sgtmom52 I used a pair of tin snips and rather than cutting off the part where the food comes out I just folded that part up, and flat filed any burrs on the sides. But if ya wanna err on the side of caution a small rubber hose split on one side (like the air line for an aquarium) should do the trick I should imagine

Good idea!

I was wondering, would it be better to take all food out at night. My mother used to always take everything out of the coop at night so the rats will not go inside.
