I know it’s early to start guessing gender for a Silkie, but feel free to let me know your thoughts! I’ll keep updating as the weeks go by.
I first thought male around five weeks because of the thicker legs (thicker than polish anyway) & small comb with spikes.
I’ve no other silkie chicks to compare it with.
Now, at 7.5 weeks, I’m thinking female because the comb hasn’t changed in the last two weeks and the crest seems rounder than my males’ crests at this same age. The first collage pic shows the comb & crest how it normally looks (top pics) and then pushed back (bottom pics). Posture-wise, it doesn’t stand as tall/proud as my former cockerels did and hasn’t chest bumped or challenged any other bird.
