This is one of my newest additions. He is an 8 week old EE cockerel, I am thinking. What do you guys think? Cockerel or pullet?

I am also curious about the lack of a tail on him. He is the strangest looking thing. I am guessing he might be a rumpless bird. You can see a bit of his biological mother next to him. She and the father both have tails, but this little guy hatched out with nothing. I have to say that when you are used to seeing birds with tails, it is disconcerting to have nothing there.

Thanks, Jake.

Anyone else?

It would help us newbies if you would give the reason why. BTW, Love your profile pic, whacked out and awesome. Thanks for all your great advice you give to so many of us.

Why i think it's a cockerel? Because i own Ameraucana's(EE) And i have a cockerel, And he looked alot like that. And That breed of Ameraucana the roosters are white with black and sometimes orange. Just look at my Profile Picture. That is my cockerel at 7 months. He is an Ameraucana (EE)

That is why i believe he is a Cockerel.

I believe he is a cockerel because of his build- large, prominent legs and an upright stance. His center of gravity is very high as opposed to females whose center of gravity is much lower. He also got red in the face 2 weeks ago. A bird that gets red so early is generally a male. He feathered in very slowly and poorly. He still doesn't have all his adult plumage. Males feather in differently from females. Just last week he looked like a mini ostrich- feathered body, fuzzy neck and bald head. He is improving in looks as he ages. I hope he gets as handsome as his father.

Thanks everyone! Suspicion confirmed.

Now, I just need to get the other 3 EEs to sit still long enough to get some decent pics. They are really stumping me.

Do you have any pictures of what this guy looks like now? His coloring is beautiful and I also have a rumpless EE that I am trying to sex. It's almost 12 wks old and has columbian coloring, no red or brown at all on the wings. Would love to see this guy all grown up
