8-week old silkie gender?

    Can anyone give me their opinion on the sex of this 8-week old silkie? I would much appreciate it!!!

    Neither of your images is available on your post. If you can get some photos posted, we'd be happy to take a look at your Silkie for you, however young Silkies are notoriously difficult to sex even for experienced chicken owners, and trying to sex a Silkie accurately at 8 weeks is often nearly impossible.

    Judging by coloration, it looks like female coloring. Males with partridge type coloring usually have black chests.

    watch for the feathers to start darkening up to a orangey reddish or reddish brown colour on the neck and back too, it may be a bit early for those feathers to have really come in yet but if it's a roo and they are going to it should start being obvious in the next few weeks.

    Yours is pretty light so far so I would be optemistic it's a girl but the next few weeks will tell you for sure.

    I don't see anything screaming cockerel at this point, but it's really too young yet to be certain.

    it's neutral gender at this point - but that can change - 4-5 mos. is a much better age to evaluate a silkie
