I have 4, 8 week old Nankins. One roo. They all get along, don't chase or peck each other out of the way..they just run together. So, when I heard a noise that I hadn't heard come from my Nankins before, I look to see the roo on top of one of the little girls..isn't this a bit too early for that guy to be feeling his..ah hem..oats?? He hasn't even crowed yet! Boy, was that little gal surprised!

I have hundreds of chickens and what you saw is not uncommon just like the roos play fighting, they can put on a good showto be so little [IMG]

So you don't think he was actually trying something? I do see them do the bump each other play. Just haven't ever seen them look like they are in practice for being daddy so soon. [IMG] Oh well, will see if it happens again.

Quote:Ahh, ok, as we all know..practice makes perfect. I always did wonder how they could do that so fast and actually make a chicken fertile!

I understand some are more gentle than others, I've seen some pretty sorry looking hens..I hope this guy is a nice roo.
