ive got a 2 week old duck that cant lift her head and under her own power is struggling and flopping all over the place trying to right herself. she was fine an hour ago when i put them out, i got the kids ready for school and one of them found her like that in the yard. shes flipping somersaults trying to get her head up. i suspect one of my larger ducks injured her. is there anything i can do or try to make her more comfortable?or is there no hope? she looks like shes in pain, and i am strongly considering putting her out of it. video: see for yourself- http://s1088.photobucket.com/albums...tion=view&current=2011-08-26_07-04-33_904.mp4

it's heartbreaking to see your little duckling like that! If you look at my thread I started a couple of days ago (and I have another since) you will see that I'm struggling with the same with a chick. I believe your duckling may have wry neck. I don't believe I'm dealing with that now but I think it's definitely a neurological issue.

I'm not sure if ducklings are treated the same way as chicks. My chick had small but immediate improvements just from one dose of polyvisol vitamins. I got B12, E and selenium she'll be taking today as well, and I've been putting apple cider vinegar in her water.

Check wry neck. I went from a diagnosis (mine) of broken neck, then wry neck, then Mareks. Now i'm thinking it's a neurological issue due to a deficiency or an injury. She spent two days basically comatose, but she's MUCH more alert today. I'm heading out to get plain yogurt and st johns wort. Improvements are slow but they are happening.

Don't give up yet!
