This isn't really a pet or livestock, but I certainly didn't want to put him in the pests section because he's more than welcome here. Normally we see these guys in the trees, but occasionally they'll settle in on the side of the house for the day. This was the first time I thought to take a picture of one. [IMG]

They certainly help. They love patrolling our security lights for all the bugs that are attracted to them. I'm surprised we don't have obese bats, because there's a feast at those lights every night [IMG]

I like bats myself. There is a store within walking distance to my house with lots of security lights. Late at night while walking my dogs I always stop for while just to watch the bats flying around. Totally awesome sight.

Everyone just has to love the litle bug eaters.
we have bat houses all over the property.

I am glad to see there are still some bats left, there was a while this fall and winter where bats had contracted "white nose", its some sort of fungus.
more information as they know it know.
they are still researching cause effect etc.

I'm betting you're close to Austin? Home of the huge swarm of Mexican Freetails, under the Congress Ave. bridge?

Bat Conservation Int'l. is based in Austin, and has some great info/pics on their website.

    Thanks for sharing the pics!

We have a few like that here in Fort Worth. They always dive bomb the pool when we are swimming in the summer evenings....
