When I got to school this morning the head custodian caught me right away to rescue an injured owl. The beautiful owl was on the patio by our Kinder hallway. I thought his wing was broken but it turned out to be only dislocated and he is recovering nicely before he will be returned to the wild. It was definitely a bright spot in my day I needed badly. He had some warmed, shredded ham, water, and a lot of attention he took surprisingly well.
When I first brought him in:

Feeling a lot better in my chair!

I had just done a lesson with owl pellets before we went on break in March, so it was great for the kids to see a little one. Our burrowing owls are tiny little things, I just love them.

Oh my gosh! I LOVE burrowing owls! I only have one tattoo, but it is of a burrowing owl (in memory of my great grandmother who loved owls, in particular this breed). It is a good thing the custodian came and got you.
