Morning everyone!
I just wanted to share a story with you. I got my chicks earlier this week, my very first order. We lost a few during shipment, but 34 others are doing just fine. 1 however, has been in a 'hospital wing' box for 3 days now. I've been gently offering her sugar water, honey, a nice starter mash, anything I could think of to perk her up and give her more energy. 3 nights straight of this has really worn me out! So last night my friend who is an equine vet offered to take her for a while to see if she could have any luck feeding/watering her. (And for some reason, whenever she stops by, the chick eats/drinks more for her when she attempts it). So I was all for it.. well, she just emailed me that she took it to work (yes, an equine vet hospital) and they gave it subq fluids!!!! Didn't even think they made stuff that small to use on a chick.. and apparently the little chick is fighting hard. No change in 3 days, but apparently is perking up now... we're praying this one will pull through!

So when you've got an ailing chick, call a dedicated equine veterinarian
