I have 4 girls and at least 1 started laying.......yes in january......

I have rubbermaid style totes upside down for nests and thats where the eggs (or the ones I know off) are at so good so far

I believe ducks lay about the same time each day? I let mine out on 3 acres early for morning slug collecting but would prefer they keep laying in the boxes for ease and control of broody timing since ducklings will not survive yet at this time of year I believe..... If I leave one marked egg in each nest will they keep laying there? I know they feel safe in the coop because they have retreated a few times for whatever scary reason :) But if I take all the rest will they suspect predator? and move? It seems on here most people like the tote or 1/4 barrel nests best for muscovy .

So basically wondering whats worked for folks who really free range them and still want some egg control as oppossed to watching mama walk out of the woods with 15 babies in tow. I mean thats fine a time or 2 but would prefer them to brood in safety too.

Any experiences welcome...Thanks
