I have been very good. I've waited until I could really consider bringing more chicks in and called the hen breeder whom I bought the Ameraucanas from. She had offered me Barnevelders and Marans and I wanted to get 2 of each for a total of four.
Well, she told me that last week she accidentally left the coop open where those chicks were in and a fox got them all.
So, I am now Barnevelder-less and Maran-less and I really wanted chicks that I didn't have to put in a brooder.
I know it was an accident, but now I really wonder if I'm going to get them this year. It probably means I will have to wait until spring next year since most folks aren't supplying Barnevelders. I'm pretty bummed. Does anyone know a breeder in Montana who would part with some pullets? I keep my birds safe in a barn and close it up at night. All my birds are well cared for.
