Hey all, Just want to say I love this group! Learning all I can & it is great to see there are some members in my area (NELA).

We just bought a big old home that has a lovely fenced in greenspace to garden and play in. Currently, our family consists of just one very smart cha-weenie and a playful siamese fighting fish. No kids yet. The house is really quiet and dh would love me to pick up a hobby for extra income/keep my mind busy. Not sure about making any money, but it looks like I can spend a fortune spoiling our flock, Lol! Either way, we'll figure it out.

I am wanting to start with 4-6 layers and am still trying to figure out the best easy-to-maintain coop/run. We eat brown eggs just about every day so I need to find out the best breed for those. I also garden, so the chicken poop will come in handy. Just seems like a good all-around idea and I know it will be a pleasure to care for the hens.

    Looking forward to meeting y'all.

    Thank you
