I got in from my daughter's softball practice yesterday to find my 12yr-old son in the shop working away diligently with some cardboard and tape. The first words out of his mouth were, "Dad, Roadrunner's pregnant!" [IMG] Apparently he had (for the first time) seen our new roo 'introduce himself' to one of the girls (specifically an EE named Roadrunner). He was preparing a box for her to lay in. My daughter (9yrs old - my chicken buddy) immediately began to school him on how a hen will 'decide' when she wants to set, etc..... I got sidetracked by something, but I still need to go back and explain that "pregnant" isn't exactly the term here. [IMG]

Maybe a 'had-to-be-there' sort of moment, but it was pretty funny.

Having animals is the best way to teach reproduction education. New opportunities for instruction and questions and answers are always abundant. Not to mention all the funny stories. [IMG]

Hadn't thought of that Renee, but a very good teachable point! LOL!

    In all seriousness, agreed weeders!

Quote:Animals other than chickens help as well though, I had to have a serious conversation with my four year old about the fact that I haven't laid any eggs around the house. [IMG]
