I have been begging for a goat forever and a day. My SO has always told me no (well actually not just no, but h**l NO!). He says that his grandma (deceased 30 yrs) never let goats on this place and that's the way it would stay!
Well, guess what? The SO's oldest daughter is visiting today with the one and only grandbaby. The SO doesn't get to see the grandbaby all that much cuz they live in N. Texas.
Turns out the daughter needs a home for her minature goat. So they (SO and daughter) struck a deal...she brings the GS to visit more often, I get to keep her goat here. Never underestimate the power of a grandchild!
I'm getting a goat! I'm getting a goat!

Congrats!

My dh is Anti-Goat also.. I've been begging.. And my children are only 6 and 3 so hopefully no GC anytime soon! I think in my case it's going to be "easier to beg forgiveness than ask for permission".

Have fun with your new goat!! They are such a blast!

Woo hoo! Congratulations! Also now you have a very good reason to go get ANOTHER goat as a companion for the first

Now if only I could find a way to convince *my* dh that we need goats... I may have to wait til the boys are old enough for 4H, which won't be for some while, sigh.

i feel like this is a fairy tale. trading a goat for a grandchild. there should be some spinning goat hair into gold somewhere. or a tall tower.
