ok, a 'chicken hawk' as I've identified it from pictures ect. online, tried to attack my pug 2 days ago and I shot and killed it. Now I'm not much one for letting anything go to waste, so I suppose the question here is.. Has anyone ever eaten one, and how would you cook it. It's plucked and cleaned and I let it rest in the fridge and it's now in the freezer. I'd assume it's still a type of poultry ( more or less) lol so it'd taste KIND of close, but I'm not sure how I should marinate it ect...I hope this was the right place to post this, lol. I'm just glad I got it before I got my chickies out in their new coop. Any suggestions welcomed..

OMG!!! I didn't realize a pug was small enough to be prey for a hawk??!! I'm glad you posted this because I take my pugs out to the dog run for a couple of hours a day while I clean the house. I'm gonna have to cover the dog run!!!!!

I would say fry that baby!!!! Fried chicken is good so why wouldn't fried hawk be good???

I didn't think he was small enough prey either! lol I'd assume he was starving cuz when I cleaned him, there wasn't ANYTHING in his 'stomach' and I can see how he would be able to kill him with a bad enough attack...gremlin's too fat to run fast enough away from him. I reckon trusting my gut served me well this time, cuz I grabbed the .22 on my way out the door, JUST in case. lol

honestly I've already told the proper authorities about the incident and I'm in the clear as far as I've been informed. My local wildlife refuge has informed me of the 'dos and don'ts' as well. In all actuality, it's not like I put up a bunch of unwrapped powerlines and killed a bunch of condors [IMG] maybe that's just my sick sense of humor. But still, I've already looked into the legalities around here, on account that it was basically 'self defense' for lack of a better term.

Hmm...not knowing how tough a bird it might be, I'd opt for some hawk and dumplings! Nomnomnom.
