I walked into the coop this morning to let my hens out, and noticed a bright red pile of blood on the coop floor!!!!! I looked above on the roost and notice a large amount of dried blood!!! All my birds appeared fine, no evidence of blood from their bums.....

What am I looking at here ??????

Everyone is eating and drinking

Has anyone experienced this before?
What should I look for now?

Upon further inspection, as the morning has gotten brighter... My rooster must have injured his leg, his spur is missing flush to the leg.

It's not bleeding now, looks dried at the moment.
Suggestions on what to do going forward and will it grow back?

I would like to clean it up before he goes to roost tonight, should I tape it up?

Air needs to get to it for healing, so I wouldn't bandage it. You could put an antibiotic ointment on it. It should grow back, unless he has a problem not known.
