hoping someone can help, about two months ago (lat July/early August) and single China Brown goose and a Candian showed up at a small pond near he entrance to our neighborhood, htere are also several pairs of Mallards residing on the pond. Clearly the two geese had formed a pair, yes I understand this is unusual but hey, nature is like that sometimes (that's how Mules come to be). Anyway sadly the Canadian goose was hit by a car and died so the China is all alone. She gets along fine with the Mallards BUT winter is coming and the pond will freeze over and the Mallards will fly away. Any ideas what we should do about the Chna? Everyone seems to feed them however other than bushes there is no protection from the winter weather which can be brutal in the Northeast.

That's awesome that you would notice and help the poor thing.

Here are some suggestions:::
A dog house with some stray packed in it near the pond. Put food near it so she gets interested.
A three sided shelter with straw in it.
Catching her and offering her to someone who already has geese (she would feel less sad then)
Luring her into your yard so she can stray in a shed or warm box during the nights

There are other things you can try, but these can be a good start.

I hope all ends up well. Thank you for caring!!! Best of luck!
