Hello Everyone. Did you ever hear a story about someone that went outside to their duck pasture to find one of their ducks choking on a half eaten mole or frog or even a snake. My family and I had heard of it several different places and always guarded our small mammals from the ducks, until one day my dad had the idea to let the ducks out of their pasture at night to see if they would eat the mice. We had a huge mouse problem in our chicken yard and the chickens were always asleep when the mice were out. Within days of letting the ducks out every night we hardly saw a single mouse! And to top it all of egg production increased and it saved on feed! An interesting but efficient solution for anyone with ducks.

What kind of duck do you have?

Hello Zazouse. That's kind of a funny story. I intended to buy Indian Runner ducks. And for the most part they are. However they don't stand quite as tall as they should and production is not as high as I was promised. They seem to be a cayuga/runner mix. Nonetheless I love them very much!!

I had cambells and buff orps... OMG it was always a trip and a half to watch them take out a mouse or a frog! I thought for sure they'd choke. I always felt bed when I'd see them get a frog or toad... Poor toad... Anyway! They sure can do some pest control.
