My quail hen seems to have slowed down some on her egg laying. I hadn't gotten one yesterday, and didn't think I had one today.
I was sitting on the couch, watching the quail, then walked over to the pen. As I peered in, I commented to my sons that I guess Kylie (the hen) was done laying for the summer, now that the days are shorter.
No sooner did those words leave my mouth when honest to goodness, this is what happened. Kylie ran over to her nest, and began furiously digging. She unearthed an egg, and proudly showed it to me. My jaw just dropped!
What the heck, she surely couldn't understand me....right?
